The MIS Department plans
and directs all electronic data processing and management of information
systems activities for the school system. Responsibilities include state
reporting and managing the databases for: payroll, budgeting, personnel, asset
management and all other system wide programs. These systems are maintained to
meet district, state and federal regulations/mandates in data collection and
reporting.
The WAN is responsible for maintaining the Wide Area Network and Local Area
Networks (LANs) at all of the 38 district sites. The department maintains and
supports over 90 servers, and 5500 computers in the classrooms.
All classrooms, with the exception of a few temporary buildings, are wired for
the Internet.
The
Technology Training Department is responsible for providing technology training
for teachers and administrators. This department is funded through technology
grants from state and federal sources. Concentration has been on the integration
of technology into the curriculum using the INTECH Professional Development
Model.

to computer ratio of approximately 5:1, students to computers.
